Two Rainbows

Two Rainbows

During the recent school holidays my younger son was invited to a birthday party that included ice sliding, tobogganing, ice skating, dodgems and cosmic golf. He left early in the morning, my husband went off to play golf and my other son went off for a driving lesson. Left alone in the house I decided to enjoy the peace and quiet and settled down to watch that week's Joel Osteen programme. Joel preached on asking for and recognising signs from God. He talked about the story of King Hezekiah told in 2 Kings 20, when God gave him a sign that he would live by turning the sun back and then he told the following story:

A young woman had lost her husband at the age of 29 in a road traffic accident. She was left to bring up their two young children. Several years later she met someone else and was due to be married in Hawaii. Unfortunately she was having feelings of guilt about her first husband so she prayed and asked God for a sign that if this wedding had his blessing and her first husband’s blessing, there would be a rainbow at the wedding ceremony. The day of the wedding dawned and as she walked out there were two magnificent rainbows straight in front of her, the person taking the service said that they had never seen that in twenty years of marrying people. The woman believed that God had sent her two rainbows, the first to confirm his blessing and the second to confirm her first husband’s blessing.

Joel went on to talk about various signs in his own life and encouraged listeners to ask and recognise when God was giving them a sign. Without really thinking about what I was doing I asked God to send me a rainbow.

My younger son returned from the party and a short time later shouted out “Mum, come here, I’ve got a blurred bit in my eye”. I asked him if he had banged his head, but he didn’t think so. I laid hands on him and prayed for healing and then got him in the car to take him to the local minor injuries unit. During the drive there I continued to pray for healing and also had to stand against the fear that was trying it’s best to get a foothold. By the time we arrived at the hospital he had remembered that he had fallen twice while ice skating and had banged his head. We went to the hospital reception but as soon as we mentioned blurred vision and a banged head they immediately told us that we needed to go straight down to the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI). Before we could go they needed to record our visit, I took the opportunity to go into the toilet and took authority, prayed for healing and pleaded the blood of Jesus. As we left to go to the LGI, I again laid hands on him and claimed our blood bought right to healing.

By the time we reached the LGI his vision had returned to normal. We were seen fairly quickly and the doctor said that she thought he had had mild concussion but everything now seemed fine and just to keep a close eye on him for the next 24 hours.

We left the building and as the double doors opened I looked out and directly in front of me were the two most magnificently perfect, beautiful rainbows that I have ever seen in my life. I stood looking at them in awe and said to my son ‘look at the two rainbows’, to which he replied ‘mum, there are three of them’.
Do you know what was so amazing about this? There was no rain! Most of the sky was bright sunshine with just a small grey cloud behind the rainbows. Scientifically there is no way those rainbows should have been there.

There are two things I know about that day:
1. Between the two hospitals Jesus healed my son.
2. Those rainbows were God’s sign to me, saying ‘Andrea it’s alright, I am right here with you’.

Don’t you just love God!!!!!!!!!
